Wetton, Grindon, Butterton via Robin Hoods Cave

A day walk starting out in Wetton from the Royal Oak pub.
I would class this as strenuous unless done in the summer! The route drops down via Robin Hoods Cave with incredible views of the valley below. (Be careful in Robin Hoods Cave as the entrance can be very slippery)
You then follow the valley down before climbing up steeply from the valley to Mere Hill. The route then drops down to Waterfall on what can only be described as a mud ski route which during my visit in October ’21 was dangerous at best!
We then follow the path to Grindon followed by Butterton before a final slog up the hill to Wetton.
If you are thinking of following my route from Wetton to the stepping stones at Dovedale returning via Ilam, I can recommend staying at the Royal Oak in Wetton we had a great night of food drink and the rooms are very modern and recently refurbished.
