Edale to Jacobs Ladder, Brown Knoll, Rushup Edge & Mam Tor

A tough walk in the winter up Jacobs Ladder and following the path via Brown Knoll, Rushup Edge and Lords Seat to Mam Tor.

This walk starts from the Barber Booth car park in Edale which is currently free of charge to park at. Google currently lists this car park as closed but this is not the case. You could alternatively park at the main Edale car park to complete this walk.

We start off gently heading towards Jacobs Ladder where the climb becomes very steep very quickly! The view from the top of the valley will make this all worthwhile I promise! From the top of Jacobs Ladder, we stick to the left following the long and windy footpath of slabs to the Brown Knoll trig point and out to the top of Rushup Edge.

The path along Rushup Edge is nice and gentle giving great views of both the Edale and Castleton valleys and what better place to stop for a drink or lunch than Lords Seat looking down over Edale.

At this point you could head down the valley and back to the car park but for the short climb involved why not take on Mam Tor and some of the great ridge with spectacular views to finish off a great day out.

The start and certainly finish of the walk can be very muddy in the winter months and as always the weather on the tops can change with no notice so this is certainly a walk to be well prepared for.
