Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Ladybower and Howden Reservoirs on this scenic Peak District walk. The route climbs to Lost Lad, Back Tor, and the intriguing rock formations of Cakes of Bread and Salt Cellar, before descending back to the reservoir.
While the lower paths around the reservoirs can get busy, especially during summer, the higher sections of this route offer a more tranquil experience. The route itself is generally easy to follow.
Free parking is available in the layby just before the main Fairholmes car park, which charges for parking. (Update 2025: This is noe a charge car park and is no longer free)
After your walk, treat yourself at the Fairholmes cafe, typically open daily. Whether you fancy an ice cream on a warm day or a comforting hot drink when it’s cooler (it’s always a good idea to check their opening hours, particularly during the off-season), it’s the perfect way to round off your hike.
